Working with organisations across Australia, Uganda, Kenya, Bangladesh, India, Nepal and beyond has been one of the greatest privileges of my career and some of the most rewarding storytelling I’ve ever been part of. Often working alongside my wife Agnieszka as photographer, we operate as a small, agile team built for challenging environments: fast to adapt, quick to earn trust, and able to capture genuine, authentic stories on the ground without slowing down the people we’re there to serve.

We work lean by design, minimal crew, minimal equipment, because the fewer barriers between us and the people we’re filming, the more honestly a story can be told. That same principle guides how we approach consent and dignity: we take the time to understand what someone is comfortable sharing, we don’t treat hardship as a hook for attention.

Polina, our current documentary following a young girl rebuilding her childhood after losing her home to war in Ukraine, has been shaped by exactly that approach. Four years spent returning to the same family, earning trust slowly, and letting the story unfold on their terms rather than ours.
